Von Steuben Day is a holiday traditionally held on a weekend in mid-September (von Steuben was born September 17), celebrating Baron Friedrich von Steuben, who arrived in the United States as a volunteer offering his services to General George Washington, and is generally considered the German-American event of the year. Participants march, dance, and play music.

We have so many German-heritage students here at Glenbrook North we decided to join with our American sister school and hold our own Von Steuben Day celebration in advance of Oktoberfest.

We invite our extended community family to join us as we build floats and parade through Kitchener (formerly Berlin) this year on September 13th!

Please come in to the school to sign up for float building or to donate supplies. We need a *lot* of leather and hoses, and if you have a large barrel in your garage, please contact Greta directly at x12324. Thank you!
